How To Make Baked Peaches Recipe From Scratch On Stovetop And Oven?

    Stovetop:

    1. Cook Ingredients- This includes butter, add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg.
    2. Add peach slices- Don't overlap.
    3. Coat and cook- Until sauce is thickened.
    4. Remove from heat- And enjoy.

    Oven:

    1. Mix ingredients- In an oven safe large skillet.
    2. Bake- Uncovered at 350 degrees F for 10-12 minutes, or until mixture is bubbly and peaches are softened to your preference.

    How To Peel Peaches?

    1. Blanch whole peaches in hot water for less than 1 minute.
    2. Transfer to an ice bath.
    3. Peel the skins off with your fingers very easily.

Can You Bake Peaches With Skin?

Yes, you can! The choice is entirely up to you and your preference. I like to keep the skin because it actually helps the slices hold their shape better. It is also a time saver to leave the skin on.

    Can You Use Canned Peaches?

Yes, you can use canned peaches as long as you drain them first. Make sure to buy canned peaches with no added sugars and corn syrup because it will make the dessert overly sweet and too thin. The canned peaches will also cook faster because they are softer to begin with so take that into account when cooking.

What To Serve With Caramelized Cinnamon Baked Peaches?

Cakes- Such as Easy Crumb Cake, Honey Cake, Cinnamon Roll Cake, Buttermilk Pound Cake, Cream Cheese Pound Cake Recipe, New York Cheesecake, or Best Vanilla Cake Recipe {From Scratch}.

Cupcakes- Such as Yellow Cupcakes {With Chocolate Frosting}, Best Vanilla Cupcake Recipe, or Champagne Cupcakes {With Champagne Buttercream Frosting}.

Pancakes, waffles, and breads- Such as Easy Cinnamon French Toast, Easy Chocolate Crepes, Chocolate Chip Pancakes {With Chocolate Syrup}, Cinnamon French Toast Sticks {Homemade}, Easy Crepes, Chocolate Waffles , Pancake Muffins, Fluffy Cinnamon Pancakes, or Easy Waffle Cake.

Parfaits- Such as vanilla yogurt, layered with Homemade Granola or add to this Easy Yogurt Parfait.

Ice Cream- Such as vanilla, cinnamon, or any warm spiced ice cream flavors.

    Variations For Caramelized Peaches

Add extracts- Such as vanilla, almond, or amaretto for additional flavor.

Add lemon juice- For an acidic note to balance the sweetness.

Add other spices- Such as allspice, ginger, cardamom, or clove.

Add other herbs- Such as rosemary, thyme, or basil.

Add peach schnappes- In the last minute and allow it to reduce for even more peach flavor.

Add rum- For a more intense flavor.

Add bourbon- For additional sweetness and boozy flavor.

Add nuts- Such as toasted pistachios or slivered almonds.

Try other fruits- Such as plums, apples, bananas, plantains, or pears.

Try other sweeteners- Such as honey, maple syrup, white sugar, or agave, but the results won't be the exact same. The caramelization is best with brown sugar.

Use peach halves instead of slices- You can serve these filled with Homemade Whipped Cream, ice cream, or Homemade Caramel Sauce drizzle as a stand alone dessert.

Tips And Techniques For Brown Sugar Peaches

Use semi-ripe peaches- Because they are easy to handle. When they are very ripe, they are too soft and will lose their shape and become "mushy." Semi-ripe is the perfect firmness.

Adjust the quantity of cinnamon and nutmeg- Add more or less according to your preferences.

If adding extracts, only add at the end- Add them after pan has been removed from heat because it will have a more intense flavor.

Don't overlap peach slices- Because they need space in order to caramelize evenly and in the same amount of time. Overlapping prevents the caramelization.

Adjust amount of brown sugar- Add up to ⅓ cup of brown sugar for very sweet peaches. Caramelization requires brown sugar so don't remove it entirely.

    Storage Of Spiced Peaches

Refrigerate- In a sealed container for up to 3 days.

Freeze- In a sealed and freezer safe bag or container for up to 1 month. Be aware, they may be even softer or slightly "mushy" upon thawing.

Reheat- Thaw in the fridge or at room temperature. They can be served cold, or reheated in the microwave or on the stovetop.

Yes. I answered that in the post too. You can use canned peaches but they must be drained first. Make sure to buy canned peaches with no added sugars and corn syrup. These will cook faster because they are softer too.
