  3. Add toppings- This includes drizzling warm almond butter, peanut butter and sprinkling chocolate chips on top.
  4. Enjoy- Serve immediately and dig in!

Toppings For Dessert Nachos?

Nuts– Such as chopped peanuts, pecans, walnuts, pistachios, cashews.

Seeds– Such as chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, sesame seeds.

Shredded coconut– You can use sweetened or unsweetened flakes to garnish the nachos.

Candies– Such as M&Ms, other crushed or chopped candies like heath bars, or toffees or even dark/milk chocolate bars.

Glazes and sauces– Such as Caramel Sauce or Easy Chocolate Gravy or Dulce De Leche, honey, Nutella Syrup, chocolate ganache.

Other nut butters- Such as cashew butter, Biscoff cookie butter, Nutella, sunflower butter.

Jams and preserves- Like Orange marmalade, Homemade Strawberry Jam, raspberry preserves, Lemon Curd.

Vary the chocolate chips– Use dark, milk, semi-sweet and/or white chocolate chips

Sprinkles– Use whatever color or theme fits the occasion or holiday.

Cookie crumbles– Such as crushed Oreo cookies, chocolate chip cookies, or sugar cookies.

Marshmallows– Either drizzle marshmallow fluff, or use mini marshmallows.

Other fresh fruits- Berries are great. Try blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries.

Dried fruits- Such as cranberries, raisins, dried apricots and dried mangoes.

Granola– Try this fantastic Homemade Granola.

Nacho Bar Ideas

This is such a fun party idea for any time of the year. Set-up a few long tables with multiple fruit options, and many toppings to choose from to create personalized nachos. You can even theme them for a birthday party, holiday or other special event!

Storage

Refrigerate– In a sealed container for up to 2 days. The apples may start to brown if they were not coated in lemon juice.

Freeze– Do not freeze apples because the texture will become “mealy” and very unpleasant.

Variations-

Use other fruits as the base– Like thinly sliced pears.

Caramel apple nachos– Use caramel sauce instead of nut butters and then other classic caramel apple toppings like whipped cream, peanuts, sprinkles.

Make it vegan– Use dairy free chocolate chips.

Apple nachos a la mode– Add vanilla ice cream, or whatever ice cream or even frozen yogurt you prefer.

Breakfast nachos– Top the fruit slices with warmed nut butter and blueberries, raspberries, and cut up strawberries. You can even sprinkle on some chia seeds or granola to make it hearty.

Tips And Techniques For Healthy Apple Nachos

Use a variety of apples– Sweet Red Delicious apples and a tart option like Granny Smith work really well together.

Prep the apples– Make sure to wash, pat dry, remove the core, and slice them into 1/2 inch thickness for best results. You don’t have to peel them.

How to keep apples from browning– This is an optional step, but coating the apple slices in lemon juice helps prevent the apples from oxidizing and turning brown.

Warm the nut butters– This makes their consistency thinner and allows for easy drizzling so you get an even amount on each apple slice.

Adjust the amount of nut butters and chocolate chips– Add more or less depending on your personal preference.
