Tips And Techniques For Moist Banana Bread
- Note the long baking time- It takes the full 45-50 minutes to bake bread, so make sure to allow for enough baking and cooling time after as well.
- Why is my bread gummy? This most likely means the dough was over-mixed and too much gluten was produced making the bread very chewy. Be careful to not over-mix the dough.
- Why did my bread sink and collapse in the middle after baking? This may have happened because the bread was not fully cooked, when removed from the oven. Make sure the temperature is correct and that is bakes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Also, refrain from opening the oven door during baking because it causes hot air to escape and this results in dramatic temperature fluctuations which can also lead to sinking.
- Why is my sweet bread dry? The bread is either over-baked or the ingredients were not measured properly.
- How to keep cake mix bread moist after baking? After the bread is cooled, wrap it tightly in saran wrap to retain moisture.
- Grease and flour the pans- Because this prevents the bread from sticking to the pan. Do not skip this step!
- Don’t replace oil with butter- Because butter makes this bread too dense.
- Make sure to use the ripest bananas you can find- Because they add a lot of moisture and natural sweetness.
- Toppings are optional- They can be omitted, if you prefer or if you are short on time.
- How to know when the bread is ready? When a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean, then the bread is fully baked and ready to be removed from oven.
- Cool the bread completely before drizzling topping- Otherwise it will melt and slide right off the sides.
Storage For Banana Loaf
- Refrigerate- In a sealed container for up to 5 days.
- Room temperature- In a sealed container for 2-3 days.
- Freeze- Once the loaves fully cool down, wrap them tightly in saran wrap and put them in sealed freezer bags for up to 1 month. Let them thaw at room temperature for 30-40 minutes and then cut slices with a sharp knife and add toppings.
