My mom makes these and they are the most delicious in the world! This homemade recipe is truly better than any store-bought ones I have ever eaten. I gave them a 4th of July makeover and they are now an amazing treat for your Patriotic celebrations! They are incredibly fudgy and creamy. Best of all, there is no corn syrup needed in the recipe, just like my Homemade Fruit Popsicles.

Key ingredients
- Vanilla Greek yogurt- This gives it the creamiest texture.
- Milk- The higher fat content, the more creamy the popsicle.
- Cocoa powder- Use high quality for best results.
- Honey- Raw, local honey is optimal.
Variations
- Try other yogurt flavors- It could be as subtle as a honey flavor or you can change the overall flavor with something like strawberry.
- Other sweeteners can be used- Such as liquid Stevia, agave, or natural maple syrup like I do in this Maple Syrup Fudge (With Maple Syrup).
- Try a different type of milk- Such as whole, skim, almond, coconut, or soy depending on your diet and personal preferences. You can even use chocolate milk.
- Use other toppings- Such as shredded coconut, crushed nuts, nerds, mini chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, sprinkles, or chopped up Butterfingers.
- Add-ins- You can put the above topping options in the actual popsicles as well.
- Use more cocoa powder- For a more dark chocolate flavor.
- Drizzle over the top- Various melted chocolate, melted peanut butter, or even Homemade Caramel Sauce. Just be sure to cool before drizzling.
How to make homemade fudgesicles?
- Mix together- Milk, cocoa powder, honey and yogurt.
- Pour mixture- Into popsicle molds and freeze.
- Remove them- From molds and enjoy!
Tips and techniques
- Be sure to use Greek yogurt- Because compared to regular yogurt it is much more rich and cream.
- Don't replace honey with sugar- Because the flavor would change and ratios of other ingredients would need to be adjusted. This is a sugar free recipe.
- Use unsweetened cocoa powder- Or else these chocolate ice pops will become too sweet.
- If you don't have any molds- Use paper cups and popsicle sticks or even make mini ones with ice cube trays.
- Easily get pops out- By running them under warm water.
- Double the batch- So you are always ready for those hot summer days at home.
- Make sure you freeze the popsicles long enough- It should be at least 6 hours for them to fully harden.
- If drizzling melted chocolate- Be sure it is cooled down so as not to melt the treat.
Recipe FAQs
Different recipes require different ingredients. My recipe is made with 4 main ingredients: milk, cocoa powder, honey and Greek yogurt.
No, but you can make them vegan. Honey can be replaced with maple syrup. Whole milk/Skim milk can be replaced with coconut milk or almond milk. Greek yogurt can be replaced with vegan yogurt.
No, I don't recommend those, because they are not food grade. The color will leech into the fudge pop and you will end up ingesting some.
Storage
- Make ahead- These can easily be made ahead and kept in the freezer for a later time.
- Room temperature- These won't last very long at room temperature. It's best to keep them frozen and then eat immediately.
- Refrigerate- Although it is cooler than outside, these pops will still get melty in the fridge, so I don't recommend that.
- Freeze- This is the best place to store them for up to 1 month.
