My sister calls this an "Aloha smoothie" since it has tropical flavors and a beautiful yellow color just like Hawaii's sunshine. It's just as good as my Mango Smoothie (With Orange and Banana) and my Banana Raspberry Smoothie and especially my Blackberry Smoothie. All of them are rich and creamy and super refreshing. You can enjoy them as a post-workout snack or enjoy it as "breakfast on the go" like me.

    Key ingredients for yogurt smoothie

    • Pineapples- The higher the quality, the better the flavor.
    • Yogurt- Brings in that creaminess.
    • Milk- The liquid that allows all the ingredients blend together.
    • Ice- This helps it thicken and chill.
    • Honey- Raw, local honey is best.

    Variations

    • Add mango- Use ½ up frozen mango slices and ½ cup frozen pineapple slices. Passion fruit or papaya would also pair well.
    • Use strawberries- Add ⅓ cup frozen strawberries and 1-2 more ice cubes into the mixture.
    • Bring in the greens- Like I did with this Green Kiwi Smoothie. Simply add ⅓ cup fresh spinach, , or fresh kale to the mixture. But only use one or the other. You will definitely need to add some honey to sweeten it a bit. This will help increase your veggie intake.
    • Replace yogurt- With semi-thawed vanilla ice cream for a sweet and creamy take.
    • Mix in some orange juice- To substitute the milk in a 1:1 ratio.
    • Add ginger- Add 1 teaspoon freshly ground ginger in the mixture. This works really well in helping you recover from a cold quickly. My mom would make this for me when I was little. If you like that flavor profile, go check out these Easy Ginger Cookies, too.
    • Blueberry option- Add ⅓ cup frozen blueberries and 1-2 more ice cubes in the mixture. You will end up with a pretty "purple" colored smoothie. You can also do this with raspberries or blackberries.
    • Use coconut milk- For a different flavor profile or even mix in 1 tablespoon toasted desiccated coconut. Just be aware it will change the texture.
    • Add bananas- They go well with just about any smoothie and add creaminess, too.
    • Peach version- Use ½ cup frozen peaches and ½ cup frozen pineapple slices.

How to make easy tropical pineapple smoothie recipe from scratch?

    1. Dump- All the ingredients in a blender.
    2. Mix- Everything together until you have a silky smooth mixture.
    3. Pour- Into glasses and enjoy!

    Tips and techniques

    • You must use a high quality blender- Since you would be crushing hard ice pieces and frozen pineapple pieces.
    • Use Greek yogurt- Since it's thick and has a better flavor and texture than regular yogurt. You can even use vanilla yogurt or other flavors of yogurt to change up the flavor a little bit.
    • I highly recommend using frozen chunks of fruit- That's because this is what helps maintain the thick consistency of this smoothie. Don't use canned pineapple.
    • If using for an event- Rub lemon juice on the rim of a drinking glass or Mason jar and dip it in raw or granulated sugar. You can also use colored sanding sugar for themed parties. Here is a compilation of Beverages to try at your next event.
    • Honey is optional- And you can also try different sweeteners, such as granulated sugar, brown sugar, Stevia, maple syrup, monk fruit, or agave syrup.
    • Milk can be replaced- With almond, soy, or oat milk, if desired.

    Recipe FAQs

    Can you blend pineapple?

Yes. Just use a strong blender and you can blend it until smooth.

    Can I use canned pineapple?

No, because their flavor is just not as fresh or good enough. Use fresh or frozen pineapples.

    Why is my smoothie thin?

You may have added too much milk. To make it thicker, add more ice or frozen fruits. Be sure to measure all ingredients correctly.

    Storage

    • Make ahead-This is a drink that is best when served immediately.
    • Room temperature- You will want to drink this fresh. Don't let it sit out long.
    • Refrigerate- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 1 day but I don't recommend it. You will have to mix it again and the texture will also be different.
    • Freeze- Not recommended.
