My son, who is the pickiest eater in the world, approves of today's recipe and that's saying a lot! Not only is it bursting with fruity flavors like my Easy Yogurt Parfait, but it's also more vibrant and colorful than even my Easy Fruit Pizza and Mini Dessert Pizza (Mini Fruit Pizza).

Key ingredients
- Honey- Adds a natural, guilt-free sweetness.
- Orange juice- Brings in color and great taste.
- Lime juice- Adds a bit of tangy flavor.
- Vanilla extract- Balances out fruity flavors with warmth.
- Shredded coconut- Brings texture and added sweetness.
- Fruits- I used oranges, mangoes, apples, strawberries, pineapple chunks, and grapes.

Variations
- Use a different sweetener- Like maple syrup, agave syrup, or Stevia liquid sweetener.
- Pour on some nuts- Like chopped walnuts, sliced almonds, or pecans.
- Toss in some poppy seeds- For extra texture, aesthetic appeal, and taste.
- Add other extracts- Like orange, lemon, almond, or maple for a different flavor.
- Try adding a zest- Just 1 teaspoon of lime, orange, or lemon zest will bring added aroma.
- Top it off- With some Homemade Whipped Cream or even vanilla ice cream.
- Choose the color of fruits based on a holiday or event- For example, use strawberries and blueberries with some ice cream for the 4th of July like I did for this Cream Cheese Pound Cake Recipe. Or use green kiwis and pomegranates during Christmas time.
- Mix in some spices- Such as cinnamon, pumpkin spice, or cloves. This would be great for Fall alongside this Easy Pumpkin Bread (With Cake Mix).
- Arrange fruit carefully- In a beautiful design or decoration. It can even be holiday themed. Here are some Christmas Food Ideas (For Kids) to get your mind turning.
How to make best easy homemade fruit salad recipe?

1. Make honey lime dressing- By combining honey, orange juice, lime juice, and vanilla extract in a bowl.

2. Chop up various fruits- And add to the dressing.

3. Dump in- The shredded coconut.

4. Use a big spoon to mix- Until fruit is coated in dressing.

5. Chill up to 1 hour- To allow flavors to deepen.

6. Mix again- Then dish up and enjoy.
Tips and techniques
- Adjust the amount of honey and lime juice- Based on your preference.
- If you prefer a very creamy salad- Replace the dressing with thick vanilla or strawberry Greek yogurt. You can also add in some sweetened condensed milk.
- If you don't want to use fresh oranges- (I don't know why that would ever be the case), then you can use canned mandarin oranges.
- Be sure to chill before serving- Because this allows all the flavors to deepen. Plus, I think it tastes better cold.
- If you want a sweeter salad- Simply add in more honey, maple syrup, or even a bit of sugar if you want.
- You can use whatever fruits you like- And don't have to use only the ones I used. Get creative and have fun!
- After washing fruit be sure to pat dry- To prevent excess moisture in the salad.
Another idea
For a beautiful presentation, serve in hollowed out fresh oranges. You can also add bananas in the salad and top off with mini chocolate chips.

Recipe FAQs
Yes. Because this recipe is so versatile you can use a variety of whatever fruit you have on hand, canned or fresh.
Technically no, but in my opinion it tastes much better. You do, however, want to be sure to chill it for at least an hour just so the flavors have a chance to really sink in.
The term "salad" may be confusing to some because they think of leafy greens with that word. Or at least a some sort of side at a pot luck. So I guess it just depends on who you ask and how sweet you choose to make it.
Storage
- Refrigerate- Place in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 day.
- Freeze- This is not recommended since fruit does not thaw well.
- Room temperature- I wouldn't leave out for more than 2-3 hours, because it is best chilled.
- Make ahead- This can be made hours to one day in advance if kept in the fridge in a sealed container.

Ingredients
Sweet honey lime dressing
- ⅓ cups Honey Or maple syrup
- ¼ cup Orange juice
- 3 tablespoon Lime juice Or lemon juice
- 2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Fruits
- 2 Oranges Peeled and cut into 1 inch pieces
- 1 cup Mangoes Peeled and cut into 1 inch pieces
- 2 Apples Washed, Patted dry, Cut into 1 inch pieces
- 2 cups Strawberries Washed and cut into 1 inch pieces
- 1 cup Pineapple chunks
- 1 cup Grapes Washed, Patted dry, Cut lengthwise
- 1-2 tablespoon Shredded sweetened coconut
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, add honey, orange juice, lime juice, vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Add all the fruits and shredded coconut.
- Use a big spoon to mix everything together until all the fruits are coated in the dressing.
- Chill for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop further. You can chill up to 1 hour if you prefer a cold salad like me.
- Mix again. Be sure to get to the bottom of the bowl because the juices and dressing all pool there. Enjoy.
Notes
- Don't skip on chilling this salad because that allows the flavors to all deepen. Also, I think it tastes best when served cold.
- For a sweeter salad, you can add more honey or maple syrup.
- If you don't like coconut, you can omit it.
- For some crunch, you can top off with chopped pecans or walnuts just prior to serving. You can even mix in some poppy seeds in the dressing, if you like.
- I didn't add lime zest or orange zest today but 1 teaspoon of each will add a lot of flavor and aroma.
- Add other extracts for a different flavor.
- Read additional tips and variations above.
- Leftovers can be stored in a sealed container in the fridge for 1 day. I don't recommend freezing since fresh fruits don't thaw well.
