I love using peanut butter in homemade desserts and candies such as this Microwave Peanut Brittle or these Peanut Butter Eggs and this  Easy Buckeye Recipe (Peanut Butter Balls). Now, I can add this peanut butter swirled bark to that list too. This is unlike any bark you have ever had. There is a layer of salted crackers, topped off with semisweet chocolate and swirls of honey roasted peanut butter and some sprinkles obviously.

How to make peanut butter chocolate bark?

    1. Pour melted chocolate in a cookie tray, lined with wax paper and spread it out.
    2. Arrange Saltine crackers on top.
    3. pour more melted chocolate and spread it until crackers are fully coated.
    4. Swirl some peanut butter on top of the melted chocolate.
    5. Toss some sprinkles.
    6. Let it set and break into pieces and enjoy.

What can I add to chocolate bark (add-ins)?

    • Nuts
    • Dried fruit
    • Freeze dried fruits
    • Pretzels
    • Cookies
    • Candies

    Should you refrigerate chocolate bark?

Yes, you can refrigerate it or you can keep it in a sealed container at room temperature for up to 1 week.

How do you melt chocolate for bark?

The easiest way is to melt in the microwave in 15 seconds increments and mixing often. Peanut butter can be melted the same way.

How do you melt peanut butter chips?

The best way is to dump the chips in a microwave-safe bowl and heat in microwave at 15 second increments and mixing often until fully melted.

    What is chocolate bark?

It's a thick sheet of chocolate that's covered in toppings like nuts, candies, cookies, sprinkles e.t.c. It makes a great homemade gift during Christmas since it's delicious and easy to package.

    What is chocolate bark coating?

It's very similar to regular chocolate in flavor and texture but uses inferior ingredients. However, it sets quickly and is more stable.

How to Make Chocolate Bark (Peanut Butter Chocolate Bark)

    Variations

    • Replace the saltine crackers with mini pretzels. Top it off with peanut butter, melted chocolate, sprinkles.
    • Sprinkle ¼ cup toffee chips on top of this bark before the chocolate sets.
    • The recipe below uses Saltine crackers to give this bark a little salted crunch but you can try a layer of salted potato chips too.
    • Replace the semisweet chocolate with white chocolate in the recipe below.
    • I like to use semisweet chocolate because it's not too bitter but you can also use dark chocolate, if you like that more.
    • Sprinkle ¼ cup roughly chopped almonds on top of this bark before it sets.
    • Replace peanut butter with other nut butters such as cashew butter, sun butter, almond butter e.t.c.

I used Peter Pan's honey roasted peanut butter in this bark since I  have been curious about trying it for a while now, especially after reading that it's "creamy with a bit of crunch." After sampling it, I quickly realized that it truly lives up to its name! Best of all, you don't have to stir it  before spreading it on toast or even in the making of this bark. YAY!

    Peanut Butter Chocolate Bark Recipe

This would also make a wonderful homemade gift. So, I put together a gift box in which I included a handwritten recipe, a jar of peanut butter, saltine crackers, chocolate chips, sprinkles, parchment paper, wooden chopstick and spatula. Basically, it has everything you need to make your own peanut butter bark! You can give this gift to anyone, any time of the year!

    Ingredients

    • 5 cups Chocolate Semisweet, Melted
    • 2 tablespoon Peanut butter Creamy, Not crunchy
    • 15-20 Saltine crackers E.g. Salted crackers
    • 1 tablespoon Sprinkles

    Instructions

    • Line the cookie tray or cake pan with parchment paper.
    • Pour about 2 cups of melted chocolate in the center.
    • Use a spatula to spread the chocolate over the entire pan.
    • Arrange a layer of salted crackers on top of the chocolate.
    • Pour 3 more cups of melted chocolate in the center.
    • Use a spatula to spread the chocolate completely over the crackers.
    • Spoon out a few tablespoons of peanut butter.
    • Drop them randomly on top of the chocolate.
    • Run a wooden skewer or chopstick through the melted chocolate until you have lots of swirls and a beautiful marbled effect.
    • Toss some sprinkles.
    • Place pan in the freezer for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate and peanut butter to set and harden.
    • Flip the pan onto a table and remove the parchment paper and break the bark into random pieces. You can also use a knife to cut random pieces and enjoy!

    Notes

    • You can use more or less chocolate based on your preference. If you want a big emphasis on the peanut butter flavor, then just spread a thin layer of chocolate in each layer of your bark.
    • I highly suggest wearing gloves when breaking this chocolate bark or else the chocolate will start melting due to the heat of your hands and you will end up with ugly smudges.
    • You can add lots of sprinkles, if you like. I only added a small amount, just enough to give this bark a pop of color.
