Easy Apple Strudel (Puff Pastry)
Quick and easy apple strudel recipe, homemade with simple ingredients. Apple pie filling is wrapped in puff pastry sheets and topped off with egg wash and sanding sugar. Ready in 30 minutes. Great Thanksgiving dessert.

- 1 package Puff pastry sheets
- 1 cup Apple pie filling Homemade or store-bought
- 1 Egg Large
- 1 tablespoon Water
- ¼ cup Sanding sugar Optional but highly recommended
Unroll pastry sheets and cut rectangular strips. Mine were about 2-3 inches wide and 5-6 inches long. These are approximate since I didn't use a ruler to measure them.
Put 1 tablespoon of apple pie filling in the center of the strip. Fold one side of the strip on top of the filling and then fold the other side of the strip. Press gently so that both ends stick together. Then, flip this strudel onto a cookie tray, lined with parchment paper. Gently, use a sharp knife to make 3-4 cuts on top of each strudel so that steam can easily escape while baking. In a small bowl, beat the egg and water to make the egg wash. Brush the top of each strudel with egg wash and sprinkle some sanding sugar.
Bake at 400 degrees F for about 20 minutes or until the strudels are puffy and golden brown. Enjoy!
- Homemade or store-bought apple pie filling can be used. It's entirely up to you.
- I highly recommend not skipping the sanding sugar because it adds a lovely crunch.
- Sanding sugar is not the same as granulated sugar and cannot be used interchangeably.
- Don't forget to make little cuts on top of each strudel because this will allow the steam to escape during baking.
- Be sure to line your baking tray with parchment paper to prevent any sticking.

- Tastes best and crispy when served immediately but leftovers can be stored in a covered container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for 3 days.
