Ingredients

Instructions

  • Bake cakes and allow them to cool completely.
  • While the cakes are baking and cooling, prepare the frosting.
  • To assemble the cake, place one cake on a serving dish, spread icing on top and place the other cake on top. Press gently and the ice the entire cake smoothly. Keep aside.
  • Prepare light and dark shades of brown fondant using gel food coloring.
  • Roll both of them into long "sausage" shapes.
  • Align them together and start rolling them into a spiral shape.
  • Some people like to just roll it out at this point but I feel like that gives a cool spiral pattern rather than an abstract marble one. Now, just randomly squeeze it into a rough ball shape and knead it a little. Don't knead too much. You should still be able to see streaks of both colors.
  • Use a rolling pin to roll out this ball of fondant.
  • Spread this over your frosted cake.
  • Decorate with Whopper candies and Oreo cookies. Stick them into place with melted chocolate.

Notes

  • I highly recommend using gel food coloring instead of liquid food coloring or else your fondant will become too sticky.
  • If your fondant is too sticky and hard to roll out, sprinkle powdered sugar on your surface and that will make it much easier to handle.
  • Don't decorate a warm cake. The cake must cool completely before you ice it and spread fondant over it or else you will end up with a sticky mess.
  • If you want to change the flavor of your fondant, you can mix in extracts of your choice.
  • Read additional tips and variations above.
  • Leftovers can be stored in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 3 days but the fondant decorations may become sticky from the moisture in the fridge. You can leave it out at room temperature 3-5 hours.
