Apple Dump Cake (Cake Mix)

Easy apple dump cake recipe, homemade with 3 simple ingredients (spice cake mix, canned pie filling, butter) with a cobbler texture.

  • Spray a a rectangular cake pan (Dimensions: 9x13) with oil.
  • Spread apple pie filling evenly in the pan.
  • Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly on top of the pie filling.
  • Pour melted butter as evenly as you can on top of the dry cake mix. Tilt the pan gently from side to side to spread out butter as evenly as possible. There will be some small portions of dry cake mix visible but that's okay.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 45-50 minutes until the top is cooked through and firm and golden brown. There might be little bits of dry cake mix on top and that's okay. When you spoon it in a plate later with that gooey filling, the dry cake mix will combine with the rest of the ingredients.
  • Serve warm with whipped cream and enjoy!

Notes

  • Spice cake mix can be replaced with yellow or vanilla cake mix and you can just add the amount of spices, based on your preference.
  • Replace apple pie filling with other fruit fillings of your choice. 
  • Some toppings of choice include whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, buttercream frosting or caramel sauce. 
  • Add-ins include chopped pecans or even some shredded coconut.
