Cookie Monster Cupcakes (Sesame Street Cupcakes)

Quick and easy cookie monster cupcakes recipe, homemade with simple ingredients. These Sesame Street themed chocolate cupcakes are piped with blue buttercream icing and topped off with chocolate chip cookies and candy eyes.

Instructions

  • Bake cupcakes and allow them to cool completely.
  • While cupcakes are baking and cooling, prepare the frosting and tint it blue with gel food coloring.
  • Use a spatula to spread a thin layer of icing on top of each cupcake.
  • Fill a piping bag with blue icing and attach the grass tip (Wilton Tip # 233).
  • Start piping from the outer edges of the cupcake and work your way inwards until top is fully covered in "fur."
  • Use a sharp knife to make a single cut on the lower half of the cupcake.
  • Stick a few mini chocolate chip cookies or a medium sized cookie in this cut. Toss some cookie crumbs around the mouth, if you like.
  • Stick candy eyes near the top of each cupcake. Enjoy.
