How to Make Eggnog (Homemade Eggnog Recipe)
Quick and easy homemade eggnog recipe with simple ingredients- Learn how to make eggnog that's rich, creamy with hint of nutmeg. Can be spiked with alcohol!
- 6 Egg yolks From large eggs
- 1/2 cup Granulated sugar
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 2 cups Milk Preferably whole
- 1/2 tsp Nutmeg powder
- 1/4 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp Nutmeg Or cinnamon, For topping
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until smooth and creamy. Keep aside. Add heavy cream, milk, nutmeg in a nonstick saucepan and cook over medium high heat. Mix and continue stirring until mixture starts simmering. Start adding this hot milk to the egg mixture slowly (1/2 cup at a time), while whisking vigorously until smooth.
Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and heat again, while whisking constantly until mixture thickens a bit and reaches a temperature of 160 degrees F.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
Chill. Then, serve in cups with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg and/or a swirl of whipped cream.
Optional- For a caramel version, drizzle some caramel sauce inside the sides of your cup and then pour the drink. Stir a bit and enjoy.
