Easy Homemade Leftover Halloween Candy Cookies

How to make leftover Halloween candy cookies?

  1. Bake or buy cookies– Preferably, round shapes.
  2. Frost the top– With icing.
  3. Add candy corns– Start sticking candy corns on the edges and work your way inwards.
  4. Add flower center– Using a gum ball.

Variations For Leftover Candy Cookies

Use other frostings– Such as Chocolate Buttercream Frosting, White Chocolate Buttercream Frosting, Easy Maple Frosting, or Chocolate Ganache Frosting {2 Ingredients}.

Use other candy for the center– Such as an M&M, Sixlets, Skittle, or even a gummy candy of some sort. Get as playful and imaginative as you want to be.

Use a different type of cookie- The flatter the cookies, the better it will allow for even placement of the candy corns. Store bought iced oatmeal cookies, chocolate chip cookies, or peanut butter cookies would all be great options. To balance the sweetness of the candies, these Cut Out Chocolate Sugar Cookies would be a great option too.

Store-bought cookies vs. Homemade cookies- It really does not matter. Use whatever you like.

Use other sprinkles– Seasonal Fall or Halloween sprinkles would be really fun to use. Don’t worry if it is unrealistic. Just have fun with the whimsical nature of it all.

Use other candy corns– There are surprisingly many different flavors and colors that are available in limited edition around Halloween. Find a flavor that would compliment the cookie flavor best.

Use other leftover candies- The kids will most likely bring a huge stash of candies. Instead of the candies I used, use something else to make a different floral pattern.

Use different shapes of cookies– I used round cookies but you can use squares or rectangles and make a unique abstract pattern/ design.

Tips And Techniques For Halloween Cookies

What to spread frosting with? Use a spatula, the back of a spoon, or a butter knife, whatever you have readily available to create a smooth coating.

What frosting to use? I used vanilla buttercream frosting, but you can also use Royal Icing or Glace Icing. Please note that both these icings dry hard.

Soft icing vs. Hard icing– If you are using soft icing like buttercream that does not dry hard, you cannot stack your cookies because that would ruin the decoration.

Storage Of Decorated Cookies

Room temperature– Store leftovers in a covered box or container at room temperature for 2-3 days.

Freeze- This is not recommended as the candy corns can become sticky as the cookies thaw.

Refrigerate- This is also not recommended as the candy corns can become sticky upon thawing.
