I was out shopping and found this mug and  I couldn’t stop myself from buying it! It was so big and cool and I really wanted to use it in a St.Patrick’s day posting! lol.

So,  I decided to make a trifle but not any regular trifle. I wanted to “irish it up” and there is no better way to do that than to use the colors of the Irish flag- orange, white and green! Smile

Here is how you can make this trifle:

Step 1:
Prepare your cake batter using your favorite white cake recipe. Then, divide the batter into 3 bowls. Leave one as is and color the other two batters green and orange.

Step 2:
Once the cakes are baked, allow them to cool and slice them up into small pieces.

Step 3:
Sticking to my orange, white and green Irish flag theme, I chose fruits that were green and orange. I couldn’t find any white fruits Confused smile  So, slice your oranges, kiwis and grapes fairly small.

Step 4:
For the pudding, I just used the snack packs and colored them green and orange. I used my Wilton gel colors (which is why I got a neon green and orange shade) but you can use regular edible food coloring too.

Step 5:
To create the illusion of  “froth” on  top of the mug, I used a mix of white whipped cream and buttercream icing. Mixing the two icings tastes sooooo good!

Step 6:
Start layering your cakes, puddings and fruits in the mug…
After all the layers are assembled, chill in the refrigerator for an hour and then serve cold.

(I figured out how to add labels in Photoshop! Woohoo!)

I even made an Irish flag out of colored sugar and placed my mug on top of it! I love how colorful it looks  Open-mouthed smile

I have one final posting that’s relevant to St.Patrick’s day and I am very excited about sharing it! You will have to wait a few more days though…
